Welcome!
My name is Lauren Dodd, and I will graduate in May 2011 with a Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies from the University of Alabama.
In January 2011, I began a SCEP (Student Career Experience Program) position at Muir S. Fairchild Research Information Center on Maxwell Air Force Base.
Last year, I worked as a graduate/student assistant in Information Services at the University of Alabama Libraries, as well as a student assistant at Rodgers Science and Engineering Library. I was also an editorial assistant for the 2010 ALISE Library and Information Science Education Report, as well as Summer 2010 Project Manager for the Computers for People with Intellectual Disabilities Project. I recently completed an internship at UAB Lister Hill Library of the Health Sciences.
My professional interests include (but are definitely not limited to) reference services, social media usage in libraries, emerging technologies, information literacy, health literacy, transliteracy, and providing access to information for people of all abilities.
I also recently became a contributor to an excellent new resource for LIS students – the Hack Lib School blog!
